“My dream decor was in a shop I'd been visiting for the past five years!" [Corinne] admits. As it turned out, Kathie Downie, the owner of Country Interiors in Penrith, became a trusted advisor, helping her choose everything from furniture to wall colours and inspiring Corinne with decorating tips. It was Kathie who suggested the couple paint their walls Dulux Whisper White.
When it came to the furniture, her choices were just as straight forward. "I'm inspired by French Provincial, and I also like to add a touch of shabby chic. It all started when she came across a Louis Phillippe-style glass cabinet at Country Interiors. "It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen" she confides, "I put it on lay-by and paid it off while the house was still being built."
Furnishing her home after that was simple. I started with the cabinet, and all the other pieces followed on from that. I've been slowly making my way from one room to the next . I'll just keep going back to Kathie's shop until I'm done!" she laughs. If Corrinne has been loyal to her favourite supplier of French provincial furniture, she's also faithfully kept to the style she loves most. "I like the carved wood and the antique white look. White is so versatile and light. You can combine it with any colour for a striking result.
